Another Auto Insurance Rant: Prepared for move to the Pasture...

GA is very high on insurance rates right. People that live up here in TN have much much cheaper insurance costs. My insurance agent says GA is a lot higher right now basically cause all the wrecks on ATL. It's done by state.

I know a lot of people moving to TN, cheaper income taxes (0 percent), cheaper property taxes in a lot of cases, cheaper auto insurance, .

Ha, HA, Ha - that's exactly what I would expect an agent to say.

Georgia is one of the few states where the state has no control of the rates, and the companies can charge what they want to. They don't even have to file paperwork justifying the rates.

Call and ask them why they increase the rates, and they will say "based on our experience" which is what your agent was saying. What they really mean is "because we can"

You can thank your state lawmakers for removing the need for insurance companies to seek approval from the state insurance commissioner before rate hikes. It was supposed to drive down costs by removing a regulatory hurdle BUT everyone's rates went up. It's like the insurance companies conspired together to raise rates across the board. The only solice I can offer is to drop full coverage and go with liability. Being older cars they wont fix them in a wreck anyways and the totaled value wont be much.

I work for an insurance company. Rates continue to go up across the board for personal and commercial. You can blame the assholes that cant drive and the lawyers that go for the $1,000,000 settlements over nothing.
Must be company vehicles cause most people won't carry 1 mil unless I'm missing something

Thinking of North of Nashville myself for a few years of work. I'm sick of USAA going up on my insurance when I haven't filed a single claim or had an accident in more than 18 years. Even back then it was a Chinese woman flying through a stop sign that hit me. She was at fault.
