I'd love to see one in the wild, but I hope it is miles and miles away from my property. In fact I hope they just keep passing through the state and don't decide to take up residence.

about three years ago there was a 260 pound cat killed by a car on the scenic hwy in N.C., not to far from Ga.

I love that, "but they don't live in Georgia", they happen to be the most prolific large cat on the planet and their range is from Argentina to Alaska and all points in between. They are found in Florida too. My ex saw one cross Hwy 121 just outside of Williston several years ago. I have spoken to a few folks who have seen them up here in Gilmer county.

I walked out on one about 5 years ago with a flashlight after it set off a motion detector in the yard here. Haven't seen one since but they are stealthy and pretty good at keeping low profiles. I hear a lot more rumble from people saying DNR claims they don't live in GA than I do from DNR. DNR has the Florida Panther listed as a native species on their website.
