Learn to play on what you like to listen to. Didn't make any sense to me to learn Metallica on an acoustic.....

Exactly. I was fortunate to learn on a 1976 Gibson Firebird and Fender Hot Rod Deluxe amp. It was so much fun for my guitar to sound similar to what I was playing (Clapton, Skynyrd, Free, Bad Company, Etc...)

If I had to start on an acoustic, I am almost positive I would have quit...lol

When it comes to amps, I would recommend the Fender G-Dec. They have tons of preprogrammed tones, with aux input for an ipod, headphone jack, and built in drum machine/jam tracks.

All very helpful aids when it comes to learning your style and keys.

My main rig is an Orange Rockerverb MKII and Matchless Chieftan. I find my self playing my PRS more than anything.

my son plays [metal]he is a good as anyone I have ever heard , very few lessons he just seemed to pick it up.. I just wish he would pursue it more, he has very little if any interest in playing professionally....and that might not be a bad thing..He plays an Ibanez RG Premium series..

That's awesome! I suppose he likes Steve Vai playing those RG Series Ibanez's eh?

I would like to find some kats in Cherokee that like red dirt rock and outlaw country to perhaps put a band together and do a few gigs on weekends.
