Any guitarist here?

Go to guitar center and try out every guitar you possibly can. Get what comfortable to you and go from there. I used to love going in there and playin guitars for a couple of hours.

Yeah I gotta see if there's one local to the Macon/ Warner Robins area

I would say start with acoustic. if you can do it on acoustic you will kill it on electric. its what I've always taught on. i understand the losing interest argument but i have a lot of friends who started electric and now struggle acoustic even though they have interest now. on another note if you go electric my votes for the mex strat just never liked epi's love gibson but there is a difference.

Agreed. If you can play acoustic you can play electric. The transition from electric to acoustic isn't nearly as easy.

Here's a portion of my collection. My 4 regular stage guitars pretty much live at the church where I play and there's a couple others that haven't gotten hung yet, but this is a decent representation.

I gotta American high standard strat , that's the axe I really liked , have a peavey 4x12 100 watt amp , with certain pedals , I get the David Gilmour sound out clean , he was really my influence so I finally got to the point that I was emulating his sound . I still have 28 raw marshall cabs made of double ply birch wood that some axe masters can build their own marshall cabs . but I really love to do the delay effect like Gilmour does on "ECHOES" , but I don't think the neighbors really care for it ,I try to play it spooky as heck anyway .

I have a whole new respect for you Hinchman! But I gotta ask.. How do you get the ones up high?

oh and I LOVE that Gretch! I used to have a vintage orange Gretch that I regret ever giving up...but I gave it to a great guy that fell in love with it and went on to record some albums with Vineyard Music.

i've seen cheap acoustics deter many from ever learning guitar. unless you can afford a nice taylor etc to start.

Easiest guitar I learned on back in college in the early 90's was an Ovation Celebrity. Very small neck, nicely rounded and a very low - quick action. It was cheap and a great starter. Then I graduated to a Martin, Fenders, Taylor's, Gibsons, etc.

Generally speaking, I don't. Those 2 rarely get played so I didn't mind them being a pain to get to. The hangers actually rotate about 30', and you have to rotate them all the way to get those 2 out. We're building a new house that we close on in about a month, and it will have a dedicated guitar room that will give me more space to spread the guitars out a bit so they won't have to be as difficult to get to.
