I have a batch of the sabots and have shot them. I can't get them to group as well as I would like them to. But they are fast. Wallacem in Ga
 
They outlawed those because there was no way to identify what type of rifle the projectile came out of if I remember correctly. I remember me and my father bought a couple boxes of them back in the '80s. The sabot drops off and the projectile has absolutely no distinguishing marks on it.
 
Lehigh Defense also made one in 300 blackout that they sent me to test..left side 5th in back it was I believe a 17mm in plastic case mounted in the middle of the 300 bullet..I don't see them being sold on their site anymore..I didn't care for them.

That's actually a specific projectile for sub loads. The tip helps expansion at low velocities.
