Any Metro SOT’s that can ship a machine gun out of state for repair for me!

I need to send my Mac 10 out of state for repair and the gunsmith wants it sent from an NFA/SOT dealer. obviously I will pay for shipping, insurance and whatever fees you charge.. I live in Atlanta

This makes no sense..... Doesn't the dealer need to receive the NFA weapon to ship it?

My Area Supervisor suggested using a form 5 anytime a Machine gun left the state for repair.

The issue is on an inspection there will be no paperwork on the weapon. Thsi is in fact a transfer since it left the owners possession and the state.

I have seen an ATF agent requested the immediate destruction of an NFA item that was not on the ATF list but the SOT has the original form 2 and the form 3. It was not worth the fight with the ATF.

This has been updated. A form 5 is no longer required to send a machine gun out for service.

"The Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) does not consider the temporary conveyance of an NFA firearm to a gunsmith for repair to be a “transfer” under the terms of the NFA. Thus, an ATF Form 5 application is not required."
