WOODSTOCK ROOTS: A BLUEGRASS MUSIC SERIES
Main Street Woodstock is pleased to announce the addition of a new concert series during the summer of 2016. Due to ongoing construction of the amphitheater that led to the cancellation of the Summer Concert Series, additional programming has been added throughout downtown this summer. One such program, Woodstock Roots: A Bluegrass Concert Series, will take place the second Thursday of each month from May – August on the Elm Street Arts Village Event Green.
The shows will be free to attend and concertgoers are encouraged to bring their own blankets, chairs, food and beverage. Each show will begin at 7 PM and last until around 9.
“We wanted to continue in the great tradition of live music in Woodstock this summer through a new series of events geared towards a very popular genre of music,” said Mitzi Saxon, downtown program manager for the City. “I think a bluegrass series is the perfect way to celebrate our roots through live original music shows.”
The complete lineup for Woodstock Roots is:
Thursday May 12 – The Tyler Williams Band (Tennessee)
Thursday June 9 – The Sweet Auburn String Band (Atlanta, GA)
Thursday July 14 – Wilson Banjo Company (South Carolina)
Thursday August 11 – Jody Hughes Trio (Canton, GA)
The Elm Street Event Green is located on Market Street near its intersection with Elm Street in beautiful Downtown Woodstock. It is home to the Resurgens Orthopaedics Community Stage.
