My first two stroke was a 1987 Honda TRX250R four-wheeler that I traded a 1987 Honda 250X for in 1990. First 2 stroke dirt bike was a 1992 Kawasaki KDX200 that I bought new. Had a bunch of CR250's, YZ250's, RMX's, and KX250's. I always wanted a 2 stroke street bike and I bought a Yamaha RZ350 and a DT400 earlier this year but they were both too far gone and not worth restoring.

This morning I drove out to Dallas, Ga and bought a 40 year old 2 stroke dualsport. 1977 Yamaha DT400 with 3,250 miles on it. Looks to be all original, has good compression and no rust. Can't wait to get it on the road.

Back in the early 60's when I lived in France, almost all of the smaller bikes were two strokes and that's what I drove. It was a lot easier there as all the gas stations had mixed gas at the pumps. In the mid 70's, I bought a Suzuki Titan 500 two stroke and loved it. If I'm remembering correctly, it had a separate tank for the oil and then mixed with the gas.

Couple weeks ago I met a man who had a CR500 he had converted into a supermoto and made street legal.

Quite possibly the coolest bike I have ever seen in the road. It was stupid fast...to 80 mph anyway.

Back in the day I raced on a CR250. I can't imagine a cr500 on or off the road.

I quit riding motocross with the death of the 2 stroke. I just don't care for the thumpers.

I raced a CR500 when I was younger (and thinner!). Lemme tell ya'...it was a beast. I added a moose flywheel weight, better pipe and silencer, opened up the airbox and had a better airfilter...that was it. With those simple mods I never used anything but 2nd and 3rd gear. Pulled like a tractor and ran like a scalded ape.
Man I'd love to have that old bike back...
