Trying to come up with a hunting load for my wifes Ruger Compact in 243.
1 in 9 twist barrel so it should stabilize the Hornady 100GR bullets that I'm trying.
Have tried H414 and H4350 in powders with nothing that I like yet.
What powder are y'all having luck with?

Those are the primary powders that I use. I use a magnum primer with H414, and a standard primer with 4350.

My loads:
40.0 H414, magnum primer, 100grain Speer BTSP #1220 for a hunting load for the adults. This load produced a 4 shot group of 1.34 at 100 yards (best 3 out of 4 was .8moa) in the Ruger American. I only fired 4 total.

43.0 AA4350, standard primer, 75grain Speer #1205, for a kid’s light load. I only fired a couple of these and did not measure groups, but in the past, light loads in the 243with light bullets has been accurate.

NO CRIMP

Both bullets are loaded as long as practical in the American. This required finding the max length that would chamber for the 100 grain bullet and then turning the seating stem another 1/8 turn. Then I just loaded the 75 grain bullet without changing the die setup.

Both loads should produce about the same velocity. My primary goal was decent accuracy for two different loads that could use the same scope settings out to 200 yards. They seem to work.

It is most likely psychological and not actual, but I never get good moa type accuracy with the Hornady SST or the Interbond bullet. I have tried them over and over, due to price, and they always disappoint me. The only thing Hornady has made that really works well for me is 223 bullets . Speer and Sierra work best for me in everything else that I have tried.

Im running a DRT load, 95gr BTBT Noslers with 35gr IMR3031
CCI 200 primers
