Anyone able to 'unlock' a radio in a 2007 Tahoe?

Bought my son a 2007 Tahoe and the factory radio looked bad due to heavy use.

I bought a like new take out radio and upon installing it discovered it is 'Locked' due to the GM radios being tied to the VIN.

Apparently you can remove a certain chip to bypass or use a PC and another piece of equipment to program the new radio to the vehicle.

Have heard it is $150 at the dealership but would prefer to save some money and pay an individual here that can do it.

Doesn’t seem to work on a radio that has been transferred to a new vehicle

There is a chip inside that radio that can be taken out and everything should work.. time and stations don’t usually stay set but you’ll get sounds.. look it up on YouTube.. I had to do it on mine
