I am working on a mk262 clone for my shtf ammo. I have worked up to 23.2 grains of some military pulldown imr 8208(not xbr) in lake city brass with cci 450 primers. 77 grain Nosler CC pills. Getting 2700fps out of a 1/8 twist 16" tube. What are you guys getting? Should I try for faster? Primers not flat, small ejector swipes.

I have been shooting the same 77gr CC HPBTs but have been using Ramshot TAC powder. Big bonus for me is that they provide 223 as well as 5.56 spec pressure loads, so I've been using more of that. I don't recall off the top of my head the load, and haven't shot it over my chrono but hopefully will get out in the near future and see what it's doing. Been too busy playing with my 308 recently.

how's your accuracy?
2700 fps is plenty fast for a 16" barrel

half inch at 100 yards with weight sorted brass. haven't tested past shooting steel at 400yards yet. I will shoot some paper targets at 300 or 400 yards and report back. I'm not close to blown primers yet. don't think ill go for more velocity either...2700fps is pretty fast for a 16" tube.

Hornady 75 HPBT Match
2840fps in my Colt Expanse 16"
24.4 W748
Federal Small Rifle Primer
Moderate Lee Factory Crimp

The 77's might be similar.

I have run the Hornady 75 HPBT with 25.5 W748, CCI Magnum primers, once fired LC brass, two rounds per mag, and a COAL of 1.30 in my ARs; it runs Close to 3000FPS from a 16" barrel.

As a reference, "Hornady Black" factory ammo with the same bullet loaded only Cronographed at 2650fps.

All Chrono measurements were from 9-10 feet.

As always, don't trust me--work up to it yourself.
