Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

He has done a little work for me. He did a nice job installing a beavertail and trigger sear in a 1911. I showed a friend who took his to have the same work done and Hogleg botched his. He ended up taking it elsewhere and having it done right.

When it comes to Single action pistols and cowboy action rifles/shotguns, he does great work. On others, not so much.

What parts (who Mfg'd them) are you having put in your 938? I'm thinking the fix might be simple. did the hammer not reset when dryfiring, or with live rounds?

If the hammer resets while dry firing, there may be bigger issues.

I have used Hogleg before, and been happy with the experience as well as his helpful information and attitude. All work has been done on Semi- Autos. I am not biased towards Hogleg in the least bit, as I have other Smiths I use in the area as well.

However, I truly believe in there are two sides to the story, to reveal what actually transpired. I don't mean to disparage the OP, but I see some things that jump out as flags in the original story, that I would question to find out why. Not a slam or a flame, but in my profession, I always seek out the answer as to why in order to justify a statement or claim:

He charged me twice what he had quoted- Why? He charged you double for no reason? Was it modified by someone else beyond the factory specs where he had to do extra work to attempt to fix?

Took it back to him....days later he asks me "why do I think its not cocking"??? Seriously?! - Did you show him the problem when you returned it? Was it not doing the same thing as it did for you on the range?

Went and picked up the gun....now it has the hammer...locked in cocked position! He said here is your gun and gave me my money back- No reason given? Did he say he could not fix it? Were you a persistent come back customer caller asking if it was fixed yet (with a previously non fix issue) and he just did not want to deal with you? - Just asking on this, because I have seen it 100s of times before.
