Anyone else been burned by "Hogleg Smith"?

In response to daninga.....a simple aftermarket trigger in stainless steel from a reputable company with all positive reviews .....would cause the gun to not function?? He even put the old trigger back in but had so badly damaged the gun the hammer was locked up!
You are welcome to use him all you want and recommend him to others if that stirs your grits....
He took a perfectly fine firearm.....screwed it up and handed it back to me a totally non functioning gun.....that is going to cost me $$$$ just to restore to the condition hog leg received it in...???!?

That might be ok in your world....not mine.

To spistols.... a response...
He charged me twice what he had quoted- Why? He charged you double for no reason? Was it modified by someone else beyond the factory specs where he had to do extra work to attempt to fix?

He charged me double because he broke three of his punches trying to get the trigger pin out. Simple video online recommends heating it for easier removal....but he does not bother to do any research? Was it modified? What part of almost new bone stock did you not understand?

Took it back to him....days later he asks me "why do I think its not cocking"??? Seriously?! - Did you show him the problem when you returned it? Was it not doing the same thing as it did for you on the range?

Yes, I showed him the problem and yes it was doing the same thing ...??? He tries giving me some lame excuse that I need to use a subsonic round to make it cycle properly. First of all it ran fine on all the ammo I had used before and if anything....subsonic would NOT make it cycle better....but what do I know...

Went and picked up the gun....now it has the hammer...locked in cocked position! He said here is your gun and gave me my money back- No reason given? Did he say he could not fix it? Were you a persistent come back customer caller asking if it was fixed yet (with a previously non fix issue) and he just did not want to deal with you? - Just asking on this, because I have seen it 100s of times before.

He was utterly clueless and I simply did not want him f***ing the gun up any further. I am not even going to respond to your last pointless question.....you obviously believe what ever BS you want. The guy screwed up a perfectly nice firearm. Period.

OK things are starting to get fun here........

To those OT folks who are listing their positive experience with hogleg. I say welcome. That was the point of this thread...to see what experience others have had good or bad. What is not welcome is your speculation and distortion of the facts already stated. I suggest you keep those comments to the sort of editorials that point out the virtues of Hillary Clinton and why she should be our next president...makes about as much sense....

Now back to the pertinent data at hand. Based on the folks who have responded with experience with hogleg, including my FFL and the "folks swear by him" comments my informal poll shows;

Positive experience - 6
Negative experience - 5

By my calculations that is about a 46% negative response. I don't care whether its a mechanic, doctor, septic repair man or gunsmith....46% failure rate is not acceptable to me.

so now, my fellow OT'ers you can use some "critical thinking" and decide for yourself.......

This information brought to you by a fellow OT who is considered by his close associates to be a straight shooter with a penchant for accurate, well tuned 1911's in .45 acp who enjoys range time with a SA range officer, 70's series Colt Gold cup, Wiley Clapp Colt and Wilson Combat who made the mistake of taking a sweet Sig Sauer P938 to a "recommended" gunsmith with a cool nick name.....hog leg is a western shooters term for a revolver.
