Dirt clods and snowballs were the best hand grenades. Hit my sister in the face with a "slushball" that was way heavier and more solid than I gave it credit for. Bloodied her nose and dad reddened my @$$.

Bottle rocket wars in canoes at summer camp when I was on staff were great. Found out the best strategy was to ignite the other sides munitions. Managed it once, amazing how fast 2 people can exit a canoe when 4 gross of bottle rockets ignite in their canoe.

We had crab apple fights. We made weapons with rocks & sticks like war hammers & tomahawks. Home made bows with arrows that we made from dowels that we sharpened in the pencil sharpener. Good times!

Love this thread! Just catching up on the last few posts and the crabapple statement reminds me of being in the fort and tying rubber bike tubes like a slingshot but really it was more like artillery! You could knock someone off a bicycle no sweat.
