I traded into an old Springfield 1911 that looked kinda ok.

When I got home ,I broke it down and it was worse than ok.

It I spent a little on it (Brown & Wilson parts, Raptor grips) and got it back in good shape and it was a pretty good shooter then .

The guy I sold it too loved it.

I lost money ,but didn't pass on a junk heap either :0)

I screwed myself on 2 different trades over the years thinking the trader had something rare or unique and I was wrong. The one that stands out is a model 39 Smith Wesson I thought was a lightweight or some rare varient. Offered way more than a 39 was worth. Guy traded me gladly and QUICKLY!! LOL
