i got screwed by an amazon seller, and I was wondering if anyone had 1-2 extra pairs of glasses. I am also looking for suggestions on a goood place to check out the eclipse in blairsville. Thanks for your help

I thought the same, but have read alot that they have to be shade 14 to protect your eyes. Just passing info on. OP we missed out as well, good luck finding some

Use a #14 welding lense.DO NOT USE CUTTING GOGGLES or auto darkening hoods.

I got a cheapo pair of cutting goggles from ebay for $10. They came with a glass set of #10 and a set of #5. Put them both in and I've got a set of #15. Plus I can use them later for welding/cutting.
I would imagine that most hardware stores would have a similar set of cutting/welding goggles in stock. NO WAY that I'd trust my eyesight to those paper/plastic glasses that are selling for the eclipse.
Total exposed B&W negatives, not the late non silver based negatives. You have to have the silver in the negatives to provide the protection.
Used negs in the 60s during that eclipse, didn't go blind, and was even checked for any retinal damage when in the mil, no problems.
