I used this last night and noticed it as very hot so unplugged it. I guess the auto shutoff may have quit. This morning I find this:

Call Sunbeam, maybe they'll do exchange so they
can see the faulty one for evaluation. But then again
shipping cost back the Chiner probably more than a
new heat pad.
Sounds like the auto off feature worked perfectly.
Soon as your back started sizzling you got up to
unplug it. Presto!-auto off.
Glad your house didn't burn down.

Sunbeams return process is pretty straight forward. We had one stop heating and I just emailed them all the info I had, and they sent a prepaid return label.

It did that AFTER you unplugged it?
Nope, it was plugged in at night and I woke up because the controller was really hot touching my arm. Being a Navy electronic rate I know that's a problem so I unplugged it. In the morning I examined it and found what you see.
