22/45's are great guns, but a pain to takedown. I'll probably own another, but for now I have a browning buckmark with a threaded barrel and hi viz night sights. When I got it it was between another 22/45 lite or the buckmark. The trigger is what sold me on the buckmark. It was just a tad better than the ruger.

Anyone have any .22 pistol advice for me?

My son and I have been shooting .22 Steel Challenge matches for about three years now. We see a lot of various .22 pistols show up. Most of the serious competitors use a Browning Buckmark, Ruger Mark 2 or a 22/45.
My son has been shooting a S&W M&P 22 and it has been extremely reliable, to the tune of around 3000 rounds through it so far. I won't say that it hasn't had failures but I attribute most of those to spotty ammo quality as we've been shooting whatever we can come up with.
I can't speak for using a suppressor.

Ruger all the way.
I'm not "trying" to get rid of it, but I've got a 1911-22 on the way and the SR22, so I don't see the 22/45 doing much other than sitting in the safe. The one cool thing about it is that normally with a 22 and a can all you really hear is the sound of the action and the bullet hitting the target, but with the 22/45 you can hold the bolt closed with your thumb and eliminate the action noise. Once the novelty of that wears off, it's just an awkward and rather ugly gun. I probably haven't put but 200-300 rounds through it.
Just a thought. I recently bought a Sig 226 in 22 LR and added a 9MM conversion. They also have threaded barrels for these. The Sig is a very accurate pistol and super easy to take down. And with this one you can add 9MM, 40S&W, 357 for multi calibers. The 22 can be bought for about 500 and its the same gun as the centerfires except with a 22LR slide. Actually you can get the Sig 226 22LR and then register it and Sig will give you a 20 percent discount on the centerfire caliber conversion of choice. About the same price as buying the centerfire and you get a 22LR conversion.
This is hands down my favorite 22 pistol. With or without the can.
Browning Buckmark, Tacsol 4" barrel, and either the Browning Silhouette Sear Spring if you want to improve the trigger cheaply, or the Volquartsen Target Hammer if you want to spend a little more.
I'm running a factory threaded Buckmark and have not had any issues with it. The M&P compact was my oher choice just because the way it felt in my hand. The other thing to consider is how available and the costs of mags.
