It's worth your time to look at the crate engine selection that Summit Racing offers. Depending on what you choose you can come out ahead on dollars buying a crate long block rather than buying a rebuildable core and paying for machine work and assembly. As a bonus the store is just a few hours up the interstate here in McDonough.

Around 400hp. Weekend driver, show car and have fun with. Would need to sound like this:

Crate motor and trans is the way to go! Get out the pocketbook. It’s all accomplished with cubic dollars! Too much fun. Look good go fast. Ahhhhh, rubber smoke and high octane gas fumes.

I’d go GM crate all day. Dropped a 350 ZZ3 in my Old 4x4 back in the day. Best move I ever made. Going to do it again soon!
