Anyone quit shooting DI and switch fully to piston AR's?

My lwrc spr hardly weighs more than my bcm recce 14's....but I couldn't imagine giving up my di rifles, they work...my lwrc's work. I like both equally, I just don't get why a few ppl I know are ONLY going piston

Cause it's the COOLEST and NEWEST thing to do lol

It's true that most manufacturers have a piston variant for about $200-300 more than their standard offerings. Heck, the govt has even tried to make the switch several times but they never do after the tests.

There is a well documented case where a group ran a BCM with very minimal lubrication for north of 2000 rounds before it started to run into serious problems. If you think about, that's a lot of rounds - almost to the point where you're having to replace minor parts due to wear and tear.

That really is a good bit of rounds with minimal lube, way more ammo than anyone could carry

I have and use both piston and DI, matter of fact I have the Adams Arms and Osprey Defense pistion. The Osprey adds very little weight compared to the AA, it's way easier to clean and requires less of it.

Why choose? Shoot them both because both need cleaning. I've seen some pistons frozen or "welded" in place with carbon because the owner thought his piston AR was an AK.

DI all the way if being practical. The only exception in my opinion would be lmt. At least you can swith between the two with ease.

I only have DI. I have stripped some LE Dept M16's with many thousands of rounds down the tube that were coated with black carbon that were still working just fine.

The thing I wonder about is the possible wear of the Piston AR's on the receiver and buffer tube due to cant of some of the carriers.
