Anyone quit shooting DI and switch fully to piston AR's?

Have a DI 5.56 but wanted piston for 5.45x39 so went with the Adams Arms model. Works great. Easier to clean the corrosive surplus I shoot.

Can't really say one works better than the other. Prolly don't shoot 'em enough to notice any difference.

The DI ****s where it eats but it works. Just comes down to the user. Cleaning a piston ar-15 is easier. Piston rifles have their own possibility of problems. Plus not all pistons share the same parts. Which is why many stick with DI.

My one and only AR is blowback so I chose neither.

What brand makes a blow back ar? That seems like a great way to go as long as it's in something bigger then .22lr.

I have both one you might not be talking about it's a Sig 556 classic swat and then an A1 clone in DI love them both.

The Sig is my favorite as I just got engaged in November my future wife got a engagement ring and I got the Sig 556 engagement rifle.

I'm exact opposite. I have zero interest in piston ARs. Won't own one.

Same here. Piston doesn’t do a single thing better than DI, costs more, adds weight and uses a bunch of proprietary parts. Nope.

I literally saw one last week with a broken operating rod and it was a low round count gun. Just sitting on a bench, waiting on parts from the manufacturer.

I've never seen a blowback ar either, anyone know why they aren't common?

I have both. Both work fine. Both have to be cleaned and lubricated. The piston gun is a little heavier but has a folding stock. It also cost more.

^^I was thinking pistol caliber too for the blow back.

I was about to start this same thread a day or two ago... I have all DI rifles at the moment, but have a SPECWAR coming, so I'm maybe interested in a piston system. Or maybe just the WAR upper. Both are about the same cost.

I think I'm going to have to shoot it and see how bad I get gassed. Based on that, I might justify the cost of the upgrade.
