Anyone using ultrasonics to clean?

Which ultrasonic are you guys using? Time? Setting?

I ran my parts for 1 cycle of 3 minutes and saw immediate clouding of the solution. Another 2 minutes and the badfles were looking clean. 5 more minutes and it was done. The 2.5 ltr model at HF has a heater built it.

Not sure of its effect on aluminum finishes or anodizing but I use a 1:10 mix of Pine Sol to water in mine. Cleans up small engine carbs like there's no tomorrow!

I use one for gun parts and my precision brass cases. Works fabulously-- I have a similar 2.5 liter unit. I wish I had sprung for the frequency sweep feature, but I compensate by stirring stuff around.

Stick with about 170 degrees for maximum cleaning effect. Hotter and the bubbles don't collapse as violently.

Don't forget you can demonstrate by holding a piece of aluminum foil in the water. A working quality ultrasonic will blow tiny holes in it in very short order. I keep my hands out of there when it's running...

I use one for cleaning brass when I get ready to reload. Works great.

This is the cleaner I am going to use. I have some aluminum parts around the house I will test with, but as far as stainless goes, this stuff works awesome. The great thing about it is that it that you can strain it and reuse it.

I've got a 6liter sharpertek. It won't fit a complete 4 barrel carb, but I do use it to clean small carbs and carb parts as well.
