I've always resisted following the herd, hence my interest in c&r guns. I'm been more of an ak guy when it comes to modern rifles. However, the gun-as-tool mindset actually has me considering owning an ar. Cheap, plentiful ammo, lots of readily available mods and magazines, etc. Honestly, finally owning a Glock makes me wonder if I've been wrong to resist the ar call for so long. So, I'm looking for recommendations for a mid-grade ar. I live in Dallas; a local gun shop has new Bushmasters for less than $500. Comments, concerns, advice... what say you?

PSA is a solid choice for that price range. What length are you thinking (16", 18", or 20")?
16", probobly...
Also check out the Smith Sport 2 and the Ruger ar556. Both around the price you are looking for. I think Rome Gun and pawn had the Ruger for 459 out the door but call first.
All mentioned are great entry level choices...
