AR hand guards suggestions

I have a Sig M400 Tread which I am slowly modifying and currently am looking to replace the stock hand guards which are junk. Even during BZO my hands got hot like there wasn't even a guard. A friend suggested the CMT HDM™ 15.0 RAIL although, I was looking at the Geissele 15" Super Modular Rail MK14 M-LOK as I swapped out the trigger with a Geissele. Just my OCD. What attracts me to the CMT is they are American made in Tennessee and are a veteran owned company. Any knowledgable opinions are welcome as I am old school and basically utilized what was issued to me. We did do builds in my day. I will also be adding illumination so if you have a thought on that please feel free. Thank you in advance!

I find the Geissele’s to be large and bulky.

CMT makes outstanding stuff.

BCM MCMR MLOK is a fave.

Seekins NOXs is another great one.

The Solo Lite series from SLR Rifleworks.

Anything from Triarc, SOLGW, Centurion Arms, or Forward Controls Design.

I’m using a Troy Industries SOCC low profile rail on my primary AR.

I've never had my hands on any of the Geissele rails but my impression of them is the same as cmshoot.

I'm partial to Centurion Arms and their handguards. I haven't ever seen them as heavily discounted as other options though.

I don't think the BCM rails are bad options, but I dislike the installation process and find other handguards much easier to install.

Midwest Industries makes a decent handguard and you can find them on sale pretty often. They may not be as light or feel as good in the hand as some others though.

If I hadn't come across a good deal on a SOLGW M76 handguard when I did, I would have purchased one of the CMT HD handguards. I've seen them available at a discount almost as much as the Midwest Industries handguards.

These are real nice handguards. Solid, sturdy and made in the USA. It also has QD sling mounts as well. You can't go wrong with these either. I have used these a few times and have the Hawk model now. Also F4 defense make solid pieces as well. They are also priced right as well.

I appreciate the assistance in navigating my thread into the correct forum. I've heard of a few of the companies you mentioned and I was recently told of another Marine veteran business in Lima, Ohio called B. King's Firearms who sells rails for a merely $50 yet I've seen the exact same rail on other reputable sites for almost $200. Not sure how they can sell them so cheap. Thanks for the intel.

Thanks for the information. I like the BCM also and as I told cmshoot a co-worker that builds AR platforms introduced me to a company in Lima, Ohio owned by a fellow Marine veteran. The hand guard rails on his site I've seen on other sites for twice as much yet he sells them for $50. The co-worker said its not uncommon just as in barrel fabricators. There are only a few in CONUS however, they are sold to various companies with their respective stamps on the piece. It jut seemed a little suspect to me but it makes sense as I know its the same in the air condition industry. There are numerous company names on the unit but its made it only two factories in the CONUS.

That's incredible as I literally was showing a friend this exact rail today. I thought it looked uniquely awesome in comparison to many of the others on the market that for the most part look exactly the same. I appreciate the information.

I just purchased a budget handguard from Delta Team Tactical for my budget PSA PA-10. I didn't see any reason for spending $200 for a handguard on a $500 AR-10. So I took a chance on this Delta team tactical handguard and believe it or not it's a really nice piece for the money. 60 bucks and it looks like a $150 handguard. With QD attachment points none the less.

So retention is nothing more than clamping down onto a knurled barrel nut? Pass

No it has groves in the barrel nut that the bolts go through. It doesn't have the anti rotation tabs. Normally I wouldn't go real cheap in a handguard but it's a 500 dollar rifle. Not something I would take into a SHTF scenario. If I have a problem I'll replace it. I haven't lost that much if there is one anyway.
