AR magazine springs

I have a few 20 round mags in need of new springs. I also have a few extra 30 round springs sitting around. Can I cut the 30 round springs to 20 round length and expect them to work properly?

I’ve busted open a few really old USGI 30rd mags and stretched the springs by hand. All of them work just fine to this day.

Thanks I skipped past that thread when I searched because it didn’t mention spring in the title. I see now where he says he cut it at the 11th coil.
