hey dudes.
I'm in the market for an AR. I'm wondering if I should go with a 16" barreled rifle, or a 11.5-14.5" pistol. Looking for some input on those of you who have messed around with the pistol with sig brace since I have not. Is it just like shooting with a buttstock, or does it feel different and effect your ability to hit decent groups at say 50-100 yards? I like the idea of having a shorter barreled AR but don't know if I want to sacrifice a lot of the traditional feel of shooting a normal AR buttstock. Any other considerations you may have feel free to comment. Hope to hear back from some of you.

It is now illegal to shoot the Sig brace like a rifle off of your shoulder. :pop2: About to have lots of responses.

Possibly two of each. 1 pistol and 1 rifle in AR10 and AR15 types gets my vote. I love my AR15 pistol....turned awesome with a Sig brace......turned less awesome by the ATF......I will most likely take it off and put a regular adjustable stock on it after filing the Form 1. :-(

Don't bother with the sig brace. My advice is if this is your only AR I would get a 14.5 inch barrel with a pinned flash hider or go the NFA route with a 10.5 inch pistol and don't bother with the sig brace. Just SBR it with the money you are using to buy the brace.

Can I get a source to look at? Most of the things I have read online said its good to go and that firing it not in its intended use does not effectivly change the fact that it's a pistol.
To everyone thanks for the input. I'll consider everything you guys said, and roscoe in a perfect world that is the most likely course of action. However, until my world becomes perfect, I am left with only one of the two lol.

I have several AR's including 1 AR pistol. It has a 12.5" BCM Kino upper (carbine gas system with a mid-length hand guard) which is a well-built upper but I don't enjoy shooting it at all. I bought it with the intention of filing for an SBR but something seems to come up each time I think I'm ready.
If you've never owned an AR get a rifle from a reliable source and a case of ammo and take a carbine class. Keep it simple: it will keep money in your pocket.

Never owned one. Did carry one on my 5 deployments to Iraq and Afghanistan though. Why is it you don't like your 12.5 becuase its on the pistol lower?
