What's wrong with stainless barrel? I'm sure I just asked a stupid question. ...

Nothing is wrong with them, but most folks prefer nitrided barrel for increased wear/heat resistance, increased corrosion resistance, and longer barrel life. Stainless can be slightly more accurate. Personally I love the look of nitride as well vs a parked or stainless barrel.

Nitride is another name for melonite if that helps. It makes the barrels harder than being chromed I believe without having to add another layer to the inside of the barrel. This is the treatment that a lot of poly pistols have go to for their slide/barrel. Also, very hard to scratch up.
