Are Simple/cheap pickup trucks gone forever?

They also already have the F150 cutting into diesel sales. My F150 has a higher towing capacity than the old venerable 7.3 power stroke. The new 2019 eco boost F150 can tow more than the old 6.0s at 14k + lbs

I see more and more big campers behind F150s that never would have been considered for a half ton 5 years ago.

My F150 is the first non diesel truck I have bought in over a decade... not counting my little toy Tacoma I had for 6 months.

I don't see any in the south Georgia farms hauling peanut wagons or livestock trailers. Maybe that will change over time

The diesel is still the king but a few years ago it was a rare site to see a 150 hauling a fifth wheel whereas now I see it often enough it doesn’t even get noticed.

I personally would never do it. My camper is only about 6200lb fully loaded. Almost half of my towing capacity but yet it’s at the edge of my comfort level.

My last camper was 8200 loaded and I hauled it to the dealership to trade on the new one with my 150. Powerwise the F150 pulled it no problem, but weight wise it was scary as hell. Semis really blew me all over the road.

Because it would hurt diesel sales which is their cash cow. The 6.2 is already cutting into diesel sales too much. Hell my next 250 will be a 6.2 gas if it is still offered.

It will be interesting to see when the 7.3 comes out what happens to the 6.2. From everything I've heard the ecoboost MPGs dump to the same or below the 6.2 when loaded down. I have no regrets on my 6.2, just wish they had 4.30 gears on the lot when I bought it.

Yeah, the 3.5 dropped down to around 8 mpg with my 8000 lb camper behind it. That’s why they gave it a 35 gallon tank.

Not gone!
I picked this one up cheap!
(Don't mind it's pink)
The wife has already named it Tammy.

My 02 Silverado looks better all the time.

I could have a new transmission, new paint and whatever else I could wish for far cheaper than even 6 months payments on a new one.

Not to mention insurance. It is murder
