I watched a video recently that went over "no mum" Arisaka's briefly; can't remember whose. I seem to remember a Mexican contract that never had a mum.

Then it's a late war Model 99 Arisaka that was produced somewhere other than Japan. Someone has sporterized it, meaning cut down the stock to make it more "modern." It is chambered in 7.7x58 and is commonly refered to as 7.7 Jap. I'm not sure how culturally insensitive that may or may not be anymore. As with anything, it's only worth what someone will pay for it but it's probably worth in the neighborhood of $300-$500.Yes can see rifling
It's called "kanji." Japanese characters. It identifies the model. Here is another example of a Type 99 but with the mum.So anyone know what the other stamp on top stands for? Been googling it too but my old eyes going batty!! Thanks for all the info so far
