I say shoot 'em, but you will have to use something "stout". A couple years ago in South GA a guy shot one with a 9mm, bullet bounced off the critter and hit his mother-in-law sitting on the porch. I think you need more than a rimfire round.

.22 Long Rifle does a great job. Have killed hundreds in a 20 year period in northern Okeechobee, Co, Fla.

The castor oil pellets shouldnt poison yer well. That might be enough.

Gettin 'em to take a dose is gonna be the hard part.

They can't see worth crap so they're pretty easy to creep up on. Put on a good stout pair of boots and kick them in the ass.

Why is a gun drastic? Besides shooting them the only other way I've killed one was getting really drunk and beating it to death with a cheap Chinese samurai sword.

I've killed dozens with 22shorts and a gama pellet rifle. They're not that tough.
