Arms trade treaty....

... nothing supersedes the constitution!

Except the National Firearms Act of 1934, The Gun Control Act of 1968, the NSA's scandalous violation of the 4th amendment, or any other myriad power grabs by the US government. If you really think that this far reaching, over stepping, power hungry gov't - especially the current administration - is terribly concerned about ANYTHING The constitution says, I believe you are sadly mistaken.

The point, obviously, is that technically speaking, no treaty or anything else will cancel anything in the Constitution. In theory. What happens in practice is often different, but technically speaking, it doesn't matter what's in the treaty. Now, if they're going to just blatantly disregard the Constitution altogether, there's no need for the treaty, anyway, is there?

My point exactly.

You are correct of course - that in theory, the sovereign constitution of this nation supersedes any and all outside treaties or agreements.

I think, being part of the gun culture, most of us know that in practice things happen quite differently. While there is no real NEED for the treaty, it will be that first small step to criminalizing a large portion of the population, just as the NFA '34, and GCA '68 did. Frog in boiling water, and all that....

The crazy thing in all of this is people believe the 2nd amendment and the Constitution grants them rights.
The 2nd amendment does not give anyone the right to keep and bear arms.

I don't think pointing to God or the Creator in court would hold up...especially in the secularist society we have today...
