Army Should Have Gone With Glock....

And further proving that you have no clue what all is included in the contract costs. It's not a simple divide the gross number by the number of firearms equation and you end up with the price per gun. Sheesh man, know when to stop
Sheesh man, what do all these other costs entail? Please do explain.

If it's more than $300 per handgun, the DOD is paying to much for that, too. Holster, a few extra mags, simple cleaning kit, etc. Should not be more than $300.

Or does the fact it's a "government contract" magically increase actual material cost?

Isn't that the norm for any handgun?
Well it is, just not for the military. They've always interpreted the Hague Convention as banning any sort of expanding rounds for combat. This is a paradigm shift for the military.

Hollow points in combat? Who'd a thunk it?

Metric **** ton of magazines, metric **** tons of spare parts, service, maintenance, replacement firearms, and probably other stuff I'm not even aware of.

Every govt contract includes this. Even contracts that glock has won. Extrapolate those contract numbers as well and see where Glocks land.

It's not how gov't contracts work. Quite unlike what Gen. Milley said in the hearings way back when, you don't just take the credit card to Cabela's and order up a few thousand Glocks.

If you're taking issue with the procurement system as being bloated and inefficient - you might just be onto something!

But be realistic. If you ordered at a drive-thru the way Uncle Sam does, it'd take you 18 hours to get a Big Mac that would eventually cost $1200 and be approximately 3% bigger than the original, non-standardized Big Mac. Although this one's cold by now, so maybe that accounts for the 3%....better do a study...
