The city of Keene, N.H., has sued a group that feeds change into parking meters that are about to expire, saying members are harassing parking enforcement officers.

The group calls itself "Robin Hood of Keene." Members walk city streets with rolls of dimes and quarters to feed the meters. WMUR-TV reports the city accuses the group of interfering with officers' work. It asks them to stay at least 50 feet away.

The group records its time outside and posts videos online, sometimes showing members following the officers.

The city says one officer suffered stress, anxiety and heart palpitations from the group's actions.
Group member Garret Ean says he's not trying to cause any medical problems. He says he tries to keep a good demeanor with all the parking

Four police officers in one small California town were arrested Tuesday, accused of illegally seizing the cars of poor motorists.

Authorities say the officers from King City, Calif. hatched a scheme in which they targeted poor, Hispanic drivers during traffic stops for minor violations and impounded their cars. If the drivers couldn't afford to get their cars out of impound, the officers either sold the car for their own profit or kept the vehicles themselves.

Investigators say the officers eyed minority drivers, many of whom could not speak English, because they were easy prey.

Two mechanics, Francisco Mendez and Alfonso Perez, both told the Associated Press they were frequently stopped for having tinted windows or broken tail lights. "It seems like they just wanted a reason to pull you over," Mendez told the news outlet.

The four officers charged were Sgt. Bobby Javier Carrillo, acting chief Bruce Edward Miller, former chief Dominic Baldiviez and Mario Alonso Mottu Sr. A tow-shop operator involved in the alleged impounding scheme was also arrested. Two other officers were arrested on unrelated charges. Authorities said at least 200 cars were illegally seized.

Complaints of police harassment are nothing new in this agricultural area in Monterey County, where John Steinbeck lived and wrote novels that detailed harsh treatment of migrants and minorities at the hands of authorities.

Traffic stops are the most common interaction between American citizens and police officers, according to a Bureau of Justice Statistics survey, but also at the crux of several recent incidents involving illegal behavior by police officers.

Earlier this week, AOL reported on a series of incidents in which police officers, hunting for drugs, had conducted searches that violated both the bodies and Fourth Amendment rights of motorists. In some cases, the searches included anal probes, X-rays and roadside vaginal searches.

lol nice

i routinely give the finger/yell at them when i see park atlanta folks in my parents neighborhood (virginia highlands) and around little 5 points

sure its not nice of me but **** em anyhow. the parking enforcers dont live in the neighborhoods they issue tickets in and the park atlanta company and the city of atlanta are blatantly working in collusion to maximize profits, nothing to do with parking enforcement. i view them as an invading force

Its nice to live in the burbs, meter free for me!

Unfortunately some cities have either terrible money management and/or are just greedy and rely on this kind of revenue, it isn't just a determent its a necessity.
So they pay these officers next to nothing and put them on a quota, no wonder that guy has problems with it.

I hope this is not a widespread thing but idk, Chnut alluded to atl being much the same unfortunately.

as far as the crooked cops preying on illegals because they won't protest, well where to start. The officers involved all have hispanic names so n way to say its race based, its greed and corruption based and just pathetic.

The article complained that they could be stopped for taillights out and window tinting, well thats everywhere and everybody and imo you should be stopped if you have a light out, but certainly not have your car seized because of it.
The tinting idk I don't think its safe on the windshield or front windows.

Now there is another issue of arresting illegals when stopped because they are illegal, which I agree with completely and was the policy here in GA until bo was elected. GA did an excellent job of arresting illegals. I have no problem with legal immigrants at all.
Let the hating begin now

All you LEO haters simply want the wild west where everyone shoots everyone else. Bahhhhh. Maybe you need to walk in parking enforcements shoes. As long as they get to go home safe at night. Leave the heroes alone alright.

It can be a ***** to find parking in some downtown areas. I get annoyed with people who take up spaces past their allotted time. Having lived in Manhattan with a car/motorcycle for years I certainly received my share of parking tickets, I have no sympathy for people who are ticketed, the signs are very clear, don't park there if you can't handle the rules. But I think it's very funny how this group is sticking it to the meter maids. **** them all!

Can you imagine how miserable that job would be? All you do all day long is **** people. You either become an azzhole or you quit. But someone has to do it.

In Athens, they put a white mark on the tire to mark the time, so it doesn't matter how much money is in the meter. Park past the allotted time and get a ticket, ok with me.
