All the nah sayers. I hope and pray you never need them. BUT if a child needs medical attention and your insurance company won't let doctors help do anything these folks can and will make it happen. Oh and it won't cost a penny.

I dont think a single person on the ODT would argue that the medical assistance that the masons/shriners give to people is not a good thing


It's all the secret initiations , blood oaths and all the other super secret wonderful stuff that happens that you have to join to find out about

No other civic organisation goes around saying " we're a wonderful top secret group"

Used to get you out of speeding tickets though since years ago almost all the cops were masons

I knew a guy that couldn't get promoted and joined the masons and boom! , he got a big promotion

Used to work with a guy that was a mason but wasn't active lately. The boss treated him (and everyone else ) like garbage.
He finds out the boss is a mason, and one day leaves his mason ID card where the boss could see it.
Boom, big change in the bosses attitude towards him .

For me it's all the secret squirrel stuff that causes me to not be as interested as I would be of they were transparent about what actually goes on in the secret clubhouse

Most of the men in my family are Masons. I have approached my father about it before in the last few years but he has suggested that I wait until I have a little more free time from the baby process.

I don't understand why anyone is being so aggressive and rude to those who are Masons. So you don't agree with the secrecy. Doesn't mean you have to be a douche....

I have thought about joining the masons. But to be honest I am concerned that they are doing some kind of pagan rituals that I want no part of and anything that goes against my relationship with God and Jesus is a no go.

It's kind of the same reason some folks have a beef with religion. It's all great until it grants one group special privileges or actively limits the possibilities for another. Same affect as affirmative action.

Hmm. Maybe I should look more into it then. Are shriners and masons the same thing? Because I would definitely want to be doing it to help out the community and children and such.
