Asked to return pistol purchase

Update number two. Had a friend that had a pistol there on consignment so I tell that he may want to get it out of this guys shop. Well he picked it up this afternoon and calls me to say that the shop owner was ranting about me. He recognized my friend as we have been in the shop together on several occasions. Says that I screwed him. WTF. No justice No Karma. You try to be a nice guy, do the right thing and no good deed goes unpunished. I won't publish the name of the shop because of slander rules, but man I would like to. Again, I would like to thank my brothers and sisters of the ODT community for the support and help along the way. Anybody got a Ruger Mark 2 Competition Target for sale?

This is proof of the shop owners deceptive and deceitful nature. I'm a small business operator and I find this to be ridiculously unprofessional. As mentioned before, what shop is this so that we may avoid it? And if you dont want to publicize it, how bout a PM?

I would like o know in a pm. I have never understood the slander thing when just the truth is told. But oh well.

Yeah, if it's a business and it's the truth then how could someone get in trouble for slander? It would just be informing the public about someone's questionable business practices and may protect them from going through the same hassle.

He said he offered the kid anything in the shop and the kid refused saying that the gun had belonged to his grandfather. That part of the story sounds very fishy. What kid would not take an AR-15 or AK-47 in a second. So i ask if he would extend the same offer to me? he said that he would....The end of the story is that I took $700...

So if I'm reading this right, the guy offered you anything in his shop and you walked out with $700?

You might want to look up the legal definition of what qualifies for slander. Hint - this ain't it. There are millions of reviews and comments about businesses all over the internet.

You came on here asking for advice, but you will not offer up the name of the business to allow people to make an informed decision about shopping there. Quite honestly it sounds a little one-sided to me...

Actually anything said here could be libel not slander. Libel is: defamation by written or printed words, pictures, or in any form other than by spoken words or gestures. Slander is same when spoken. Irregardless, if what you have told us the truth then there are no grounds for a libel suit. You should feel free to tell us the name of the shop BECAUSE THE OWNER OF THE SHOP IS SLANDERING YOU.

Or you could have made all this up and we're the ones being played. No way for us to know for sure. PM us the name of the shop.

I will just stay away from all gun stores within 30 miles of the OP's location.

How in Gods green earth would he have been responsible for putting someone in jail? People's own actions put themselves in jail. Hopefully no one else will be harmed by this shop keepers actions, since there were no negative consequences for his (probably) illegal/immoral actions. OP I think you probably did the right thing, I hope you find another that you will cherish as much as the last one.

Without hearing both sides of this one sided story I wouldn't be quick to pass judgement. It's possible that the shop owner is being strong armed and don't have a clue what's what. I doubt that's the case, but without all of the information, from all parties involved, I wouldn't want to be the one judging. Of course it's easy for any of us to say what we'd do since it ain't us. My point was, we don't know all three sides to the story.
