Honestly I am not worried about the playoffs this season. I just want to see some improvement on defense and the o-line and I will be happy.

The Falcons added another player to the linebacking corps Thursday night, agreeing to terms with former Seahawk O'Brien Schofield

The Atlanta Falcons today announced that they have agreed to terms with linebacker O’Brien Schofield.

Schofield, 6-3, 242 pounds, was originally selected by the Arizona Cardinals in the fourth round (130th overall) of the 2010 NFL Draft out of Wisconsin. He spent time with the Cardinals and Seahawks, posting 111 total tackles (93 solo), 13.5 sacks, three forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and one pass defense. Schofield played in all 16 regular season games and two playoff games as a member of the Seahawks in 2014. He posted 20 tackles (15 solo), two sacks and one fumble recovery last season.

In his first year working under Dan Quinn in 2013, Schofield saw action in 15 games with two starts while totaling eight tackles and one sack. He started nine games in 2012 and logged 34 tackles (33 solo) with four sacks. Schofield played in all 16 games in 2011, setting career highs in tackles (37), sacks (4.5), forced fumbles (two), and special teams tackles (17). As a rookie in 2010, he played in 10 games and contributed with five tackles, two sacks, and six special teams tackles.

Schofield started 27 of 44 career games at Wisconsin and posted 110 total tackles (77 solo), 17 sacks, 33 tackles for loss, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries, and two passes defensed. His 12 sacks during the 2009 season were tied for the third most in a single season in school history, while his 24.5 tackles for loss rank as the second best in Badger annals.

Hankerson, formerly of the Washington Redskins, was drafted out of the University of Miami in the 2011 draft. He was a third round pick who looked to have solid WR2 potential. However, his rookie year was cut short by a hip injury and an ACL/PCL injury took him out of the end of the 2013 season going into 2014. When he was on the field, he showed considerable promise though.

Hankerson performed well at the 2011 combine, registering a 4.40 time in the 40-yard dash, a 36-inch vertical and 6.94s 3-cone time. His scouting report coming out was that he was a good route runner who could stretch the field, but was prone to the occasional drop and isn't overly impressive after the catch. But as a WR2 or 3, he could be a great piece and at just 26 years old, he still has plenty of years left in him.
