First priority when determining where to place these feeders is to make sure that the trees are at least 12 ft or more from the feeder to keep animals from climbing trees and jumping over to the feeder. I noticed in some of my trail photos that raccoons were climbing the PVC pipes that I put around the 4 x 4 post under the feeders. I have gone back around since Feb. this year and replaced those PVC pipes with galvanized hvac pipes and painted them with rust-oleum flat black paint and so far the coons have been eliminated.
