Well, I have bought many items at autrey's armory. Never had a problem til today. I bought a spikes tactical zombie lower from spikes... I look and autreys armory is on the FFL list. So I call them and set that up. Ok done. Guy tells me 25 bucks. NO PROBLEM! Well I get the order processed and call them to let them know it will be coming in about 2 or 3 months (huge backorder). He then tells me its 50 dollars for a transfer....

SAY WHAT? Um no! Buddy told me 25. "oh thats for used guns" "with the prices on line we charge 50 or else we would be out of the gun biz". Um, in my book you are. Thats extortion charging 50 bucks to transfer when all you do is fill out some paperwork. Cherokee gun and pawn does it for FREE! Their doors are still open. So, autrey's and everybody who works there can burn in hell. If my life depends on it, I wont buy a single bullet there!

Just thought I would share... if anybody else still goes in there you can tell them what I said ;) RANT OFF!

Yeah i dont understand the outrageous transfer fees out there either...maybe if gun shops competively priced their pistols, especially used guns, instead of trying to make an extra $150 off of everything they could compete with the internet prices.

For instance, i was in sandy springs gun club the other day looking over the cabinets, and i saw a gen 2 glock for $669..i asked the guy how come that GEN 2 is $669? he says, oh its not a Gen 2, its a glock "we make here in the store"...i left after that.

At least you got a price for a transfer. A couple of years ago, a new gun store opened up at Braselton. I went in to buy some ammo, and asked the dude what He would charge for a transfer. He said He doesn't do tranfers because there's "nothing in it for him" I took my arse and my ammo out and have not been back.

There is and there isnt. I live in Duluth, 10 mins from American Classic Marksman, they are 35 per serial number transfered. I will normally drive to Cherokee to have them do a transfer for me since they dont charge anything. I could go to 400 Jewelry and Loan and pay them 25 for a transfer, which isnt bad, they have to keep up with the paperwork for 20 years. I figure 20 bucks in gas and some of my time to go to Cherokee, or 35 and 30 mins to go to ACM, or 25 at 400 and 15 in gas for me to get there.

Last time I had something transfered to Cherokee I bought some other stuff while I was in there. Granted I didnt buy much, just a couple of mags which Blue Falcon only charged me 10 bucks each on since they were Glock 17 10 rounders. But I still spent 20 bucks in the store.

there was a long discussion about this very thing on ar15.com not long ago....it's a business decision on their part...they stock stripped lowers so if you are going in there to have them transfer something they already stock instead of buying their stock they charge $50...if you don't like the price shop somewhere else...it's pretty simple...cherokee's decision is to do it "free"...i've bought at both places and have been very satisfied with both...if you think processing a transfer is nothing then perhaps you should get an ffl,buy and keep a bound book (forever) and process transfers for cheap (don't forget you'll be storing the 4473's FOREVER)...maybe this will make more sense to you...you call pizza hut and order a pizza for delivery, but you don't want their pizza, you want the driver to stop by litte ceaser's and pick up their pizza because it's cheaper and bring that to you and you don't want to be charged an "outrageous" delivery fee...for me i'll keep shopping at autrey's because their pricing is reasonable and since they are a high volume dealer there are things they can get that nobody else can (at least not in a reasonable time)...when i want something transferred there are other places i can go that charge less and i will also do other business with them...

I like to make them myself. Ill never buy a pre assembled ar again. Any way they lost more money cause I was going to buy my lower parts kit and some other stuff there. Not now. Ill buy elsewhere

I like to build mine as well. I just got finished modding one that I traded for here on the ODT.

But when a customer comes to the range and has a BRAND NEW "factory gun" that has a barrel on it that wont zero at 50 yards cause the scope is bottomed out and its still shooting 2 inches high. Move the scope to another gun and it zero's in 3 rounds...... something aint right. Comes to find out that it was a built upper on a factory lower and sold as a NEW factory gun, but when the factory was called they said "that serial number was sold as a stripped receiver".
