Yeah i dont understand the outrageous transfer fees out there either...maybe if gun shops competively priced their pistols, especially used guns, instead of trying to make an extra $150 off of everything they could compete with the internet prices.

For instance, i was in sandy springs gun club the other day looking over the cabinets, and i saw a gen 2 glock for $669..i asked the guy how come that GEN 2 is $669? he says, oh its not a Gen 2, its a glock "we make here in the store"...i left after that.

Sandy Spring gun club is very nice inside but its not worth the prices they charge . I went in there once and wont again. They have some items marked up close to 50% above anyone else.

Look at where they are and their customer base ......... Get what you can ......

American Classic Marksman does the same thing, these places have ranges in the store, thats where they make their day to day operating money, they could stand to lower their prices a little bit, until then, ill drive 40 miles to cherokee in canton for transfers and 40 miles to ed's in stockbridge to buy my guns.

Autreys charges 25 on a used gun or something they cant order. The fee is 50 for a new gun or for something they stock or can order. It was explained to me that it was because their mark up on new guns is very low so they can have the best prices in the area, which they do, and hope to keep the doors open. It was further explained that the profit from retail gun sales was not enough to keep them going, but it was integral to the overall business plan. Further, the 50 fee helps encourage someone, who might otherwise order online or from an auction site, to place the order with them and avoid a transfer fee yet keep the total transaction charge comparable. It is a reasonable convenience fee based on what an FFL costs, what retail space, employees, utilities, etc... cost. Businesses only survive if they make a profit. So basically, they could order the lower you want, charge you the same price, or even a bit less, than you orderering it and paying a transfer fee. You come out OK, they make a little $$ for having an FFL and everybody is happy. You cant have it both ways IMO, order from a cheaper source and expect the FFL to give away his services.

That is BS. Their prices are no where near anybody elses. They are the highest in the region. They could survive if they were not so damn greedy. Insted they wanna try and poke you for a transfer. Cherokee gun and pawn still has their doors open and they do it for free. Maybe if they tried not to make 300 bucks off of every gun they sell then maybe they would sell more. If you wanna be happy getting ripped of then keep going there. More power to you. Me... ill never step foot in there again.

I tried to go through them to order my part from spikes. They wanted to charge me 45 more than the website. I KNOW they get a better deal on dealer prices. They are just greedy. Thats it.

LOL!!
That post proves what I was already thinking...thanx.

Iuse Cherokee Gun. I have dealt with David for a few years. He sent me a pistol in the mail I did not order, I returned it and when I went in he gave me a deal on a pistol I could not pass up. I have since bought 5 guns from them due to their CS and prices. Only draw back is they are 2hrs away.

Autrey's prices are high. If they are telling you they make little off a gun sale then that is BS. How can other dealers sell the same pistol for $150 less? Maybe they need to find a new supplier. I put them and Adventure Outdoors in the same category.
