I lost the original 4 pretty fast, but the 2 that are left have been around for a year or so now. Maybe they're more street smart, or "yard smart". LOLDoesn't sound like those 2 will make it either.....
Better take down that "Free Chicken" sign!

I never let my free range until they were grown. I've never had one attacked (no bantams).
I bet they don't mess with that turkey.![]()
I wish i could have one really large rooster to watch the girls but all the roosters we've tried to keep have just been too noisy for the neighborhood environment. I wouldn't mind a Jersey Giant rooster or a Brahma rooster.
A few years ago I had a big Rhode Island Red rooster on my yard that was tough as nails and mean as hell. I never lost any hens when I had him looking after them, but he started flogging people when their backs were turned. He drew blood on me a couple of times. I was worried that he might hurt a child at some point, so I had to get rid of him.I wish i could have one really large rooster to watch the girls but all the roosters we've tried to keep have just been too noisy for the neighborhood environment. I enjoy the mixed flock over a single variety. Keeps things interesting. We've got 5 more in the brooder so some of our current bantams may head on down the road here soon.

where do you keep the turkey?
She sleeps on the roost next to the chickens. The duck sleeps in a low nesting box i made for her.
