Barrel nut torque on 9mm AR

I have a 9mm AR that I'm changing the handguard on. New handguard means new barrel nut. Is there a torque spec or adequate "rule of thumb" for a barrel nut on a pistol caliber carbine?

The manufacturer of the barrel nut/handguard should specify a torque spec or technique for installing.

Short of that (and given that it is a 9mm), is tight by feel enough or am I kidding myself on that?

most suggest 40 ft/lbs on barrel nut if I remember correct

Caliber won’t make a difference. Barrel nuts are barrel nuts.

No, I it is branded (can't remember it off the top of my head but you'd recognize it). If it's not on their website I'll shoot them an email.

Yep, give them a call or email and find out the torque spec. I’ve had to do that more times than I can remember.

daniel defense is 50 ft-lbs. your standard gi nut ranges from 35-85 ft lbs, all depends on where the ^U^ lands for your gas tube to pass through. i have installed many different rail platforms on ar's. 50 ft-lbs works 100%

This is a pistol caliber carbine so no gas tube in this case.
