Battery question

I have a trolling motor but no battery. I do however have a jumper box for jumping off cars. Would that work, and if not what's the cheapest way to power the trolling motor?

I still have the outboard, just adding the trolling motor.

using a car starting battery is foolish economy. The plates in a car battery are entirely different from those in a deep cycle battery. The amperage drain of an electric motor will cause a car battery to destroy itself.

Shop around and get a small deep cycle battery. Major retailers will be having their fishing sales over the next few weeks.

I've tried using car batteries, and they are more trouble than the money you will save.

big battery, big amperage. How many volts and how many minutes of 'run time' do you need? If you use tiny car batteries, plan on a couple in parallel.
