Bear- how old?

I thought he was young. Am not a bear expert, but just want to know if he is young enough to be hanging around Momma!

I would think that size/age appearance that he hasn’t hung around “mamma bear” for a few months or more - like a year.
I could be wrong - I have been before (lmao) - but I think they ween off mom kind of early.

Hard to tell from photo but I would guess about 1.5 years and 175-200 lbs.
Momma bears stay with their cubs until they are 16-18 months old....I would say this one right now could be 50-50 that momma is not too far away.

Crappy photo from a cheap trail cam. Stick to the right is marked at 2 ft and 3 ft. Looks like standing on all 4s the bear is about 30-31" tall. How old do you think this bear is?

As fuzzy as that pic is, and the logistics….I couldn’t really tell ya. MAYBE 1-2yr ….. I would go closer to the two year side though from what I see. Just a stab though.
