I am trying to find a load for general shooting and also possibly a round to finish a deer or similar. I am curious if I were to load 148 dewc and 158 lswc both with 3.5 bullseye which would be more effective. I find them both accurate and easy to shoot. Everything consistent except bullet weight even poi.

Either load will do for your intended purpose, 10gr difference between the weight of the bullet is not going to make a difference in dispatching deer.

Weight will affect velocity, but at the range you will be using for putting a deer out of its misery (close to point blank), there won't be a difference. If used for hunting, I would look at some 357mag recipes.

Lighter bullet = higher velocity
Heavy bullet = more pressure, lower velocity

( I think, if i remember correctly. )

With all else being equal...powder, bbl length, brass, primer, etc.....
