I use big dogs. Maybe not doable in an apartment, but definitely effective if allowed...and they double as a deterrent.

BTW, this driveway system looks pretty decent on the cheap!

I used these at my MIL’s house so she would know when someone was approaching. They work really well.
Paint over the led so you can’t see it light when the unit goes active, most people never notice them.
