Probably seen this question plenty of times. I'm looking to purchase an AK47/74. My only experience was with a WASR 10/64. I'm looking for a brand that has an easy choice of thread pitches to use a can or 2 on. Looking for the basics: accuracy, reliability, build quality, etc.

I'll answer that for you as short as I can. Buy a parts kit (74/47 of your choice), choose a high quality american made barrel (for concentric purposes) and send it off to a well known builder so they can thread the barrel concentric to the bore and build the rifle around it.

Also, the AK doesn't suppress very well and when you do suppress it, it beats the rear trunnion to death. While using a can like sandman S with little blow back the carrier still hits the rear trunnion. KNS is supposed to release a adjustable piston for the AK but it's yet to hit the streets.

On top of that it's just a gassy rifle.

Thanks, I was kinda in a hurry making the thread. I've been looking at parts kits, but don't know how to put them together. But do you send it to a regular gunsmith or a company?

your average gunsmith these days knows squat about the AK. You basically have to send to a smith that's an above average machinist as well.

Here's just a couple I would trust to build a AK doing the work you desire.

There is a couple of other builders that are top teir but reside on another AK specific forum.

There are a couple of reputable builders out there. You definitely want to either learn how to build it yourself or send it to a specialist.
