Is this for a bug-in or bug-out scenario?
Will it be the only defensive or survival oriented gun in your collection ?


Not knowing the answers to any of these questions, I tend to like your idea of a pistol caliber carbine. I would want one that is easy to mount a red dot optic on, or maybe a very low variable power scope like a 1 to 5X or something like that.

Maybe the Just Right Carbine,
or the Ruger 9mm carbine.

yeah, for the most part I am on the 9mm/556 bandwagon as well. and a lot of .308 and .357. but i shoot the 9mm and 556 stuff more.

I have the AR with dedicated mags full of AP and my 9mm handgun. Chest rig with plates and mags pouches. And a back pack with first aid, flashlights, and ammo. My wife has a shotgun and a glock with several barrels and soft armor and a bag with all of her contacts, prescriptions for our kid, and some paperwork. There's also a small .17hmr game rifle in its own bag with LOTS of ammo. These are just the things we have ready to grab as we run out the door.

The most important thing to have is a plan. And slings.

As far as home defense, I have plenty of problem solvers... just depends on what part if the house im in. Theres usually one thing or another within grabbing distance.
