Best beans for home made chili?

Thinking of making some chili. What type of beans do you prefer?

I ate something that was called "white chili" in some roadside diner in n. ky once. I thought they used great northern, but personally, I like a mix of red kidney & pintos.

I change it around some times all dark Red, sometimes light and sometimes I mix all 3,dark, light and black. Does seem the black takes longer to soften up tho.

Correct on Texas chili. As for the rest of the country, not really a problem with the whole "beans / no beans" argument.
My grandpa was once asked if he would taste a new dish someone wanted to try out.
His response, I think would work well here:
"Will it taste good with a cold beer?"
"If not, then I'll pass."
