Best dog for the family?

You can't be any kind of sure what you're going to get from a cross until the offspring are full grown. You pick your pups from a proven cross made within a stable breed by a breeder with a proven track record.

Puppies are like any other kid. They are Lumps of Clay waiting to be molded.
Some attributes CAN be genetic, others are learned.

Get a Pup, love it, care for it and train it... you'll be fine

What about your kids baby sitter, teachers, and Doctors?
Do you have full confidence in their breeding?

Have to know their family and check them out thoroughly

homeschool

very best pediatrician in Macon with a long track record, research and travel for specialists

Not that any of those qualities of humans have anything to do with dumb animals, but thanks for inquiring after the family all the same.

some of the dumbest animals I know, walk upright and drive BMWs...
Some of the smartest ones I know enjoy Kibble and a good tennis-ball

Golden Retrivers are great. If you need a smaller dog look at Britany Spaniels. They get about 40 to 50 pound and are great family dogs. They are also wonderful bird dogs! (Bonus points!)

I had a BHRG basset for 6 years before he passed of old age. Awesome dog! They can be messy, but they like to just lay around. You almost have to force them to take a walk!

Wierd, I have a small ear breed and she loves to walk, usually 2 miles a day.

Brittany's with out a doubt, very family oriented dogs. they are right at home on the couch with you all day or in the field all day. medium sized is also great they aren't to big, but big enough to protect you and the house.
