I'm just thinking in terms of quietness right now. I dont hunt and I dont have a 1000 yard range. Moreso just curious about different platforms and I dont know the characteristics of other calibers outside of 5.56 and .300blk

.22 then if the only concern is quite. Something like the little savage bolt gun is good.

If you want to suppress an AR better, an adjustable gas block is part of the answer. I run a 9mm AR suppressed (blow back) that is very pleasant to shoot with some easy mods. Shooting 147gr sub 9mm is very quiet compared to 115gr supers. My LR308 is fine to shoot without hearing protection with gas turned down. However, you do get a supersonic crack going down range. Bolt 308 is quieter still; but there still is the crack.
